What We Do
The Brisbane Homelessness Service Centre (BHSC) provides essential services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness through a partnership of co-located and visiting agencies. Services include:
- information and support to access crisis accommodation and long-term housing, or to prevent homelessness
- proactive outreach to people in public space who are intoxicated or sleeping rough and vulnerable
- primary health care, personal care and domestic support
- opportunities for employment and to participate in recreational and sporting activities
- proactive support to people with a disability, and to families who are at risk of homelessness, to maintain their housing and create a home.
Micah Projects is the lead agency at BHSC with Micah Projects Homelessness to Home Support Services providing a range of centre-based and outreach services to individuals and families.
Homelessness to Home Healthcare is a network of healthcare providers at BHSC including the Mater Foundation Community Clinical Nurse, General Practitioners, Podiatry, Accupuncture and Counselling services.
Co-located Partners (services located together at BHSC) are Centacare South West Brisbane Community Options Project, The Big Issue and RecLink.
We also partner with other agencies to provide regular visiting services at the BHSC including the Department of Housing, Medicare, Centrelink, and QPILCH Homeless Persons Legal Clinic.
