The Big Issue is a not-for-profit organisation that publishes Australia’s best-known street paper, The Big Issue. Sold on the streets by vendors, The Big Issue provides people who are homeless, unemployed and disadvantaged an opportunity to earn an income and to take steps towards making positive changes in their lives. The Big Issue boosts self esteem and prevents isolation, provides an income to help get off the streets, and brings awareness to the community about homelessness and other issues.

South West Brisbane Community Options Project (SWBCOP) – Home and Community Care (HACC) Homeless Program
The SWBCOP HACC Homeless Program provides support to eligible individuals who are frail from ageing and younger people with disabilities, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and/or residing in marginalized accommodation. Support can be provided in the form of domestic assistance, personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders and social support. The hours of care provided may vary depending on the individuals identified needs.
SWBCOP also provides Community Aged Care Packages (CACP) that are targeted to support eligible individuals who have complex care (high support) needs. These packages of care provide the individual the opportunity to remain living within their chose environment.
SWBCOP is one of the many programs that Centacare delivers within Community Support Services. Other services provided to the wider community include Child Care, Community Support, Disability, Employment, Family and Community and Pastoral.

Homeless to Home Healthcare Clinics
A number of healthcare clinics are provided each week at BHSC including GP clinics, acupuncture and podiatry clinics. They are available during BHSC operating hours and outside of business hours by appointment.
